Dear Jobseeker,

The Consortium for Worker Education and The Center for American Jobs have developed a new way for Jobseekers registered at the CWE's Worker Career Centers and PROS to extend their job search to a broad base of employers.

We have established a new automated resume creation system that can be reached by phone or over the Internet. Using the system will allow us to make your credentials available to hundreds of employers in the New York metro area immediately even as you continue to use services at the WCC. The service is free to CWE registered jobseekers.

The process is simple. Call 1-888-NYC-JOBS (888-692-5627). You will be asked a series of questions to help establish an enhanced resume for a particular job area. The job categories and their two digit codes are attached for you to review before you make the call. The entire interview process takes only 6-8 minutes. At the end, you will be asked to record a one minute statement summarizing your skills. It might be good to write the statement down before you make the call. The system will give you a chance to record the statement up to three times but a little preparation in advance will help. If you have multiple skill areas you may call again to establish additional specialized resumes.

If you have Internet access, you can go to www.888nycjobs.com and click on "new seekers." On the next page you can see how the system works and then click on "register." The system will then lead you through a simple process to create your own enhanced resume.

The enhanced resume created through this process will be matched to openings listed with The Center for American Jobs. When matches occur, your resume will be forwarded directly to the employer. You may be called directly by the employer or by Center for American Jobs staff to set up interviews or to perform follow-up. When you are successfully employed they will be requesting the documents we need to demonstrate the success of the program. We urge you to cooperate with them. They are acting as your own personal job developer and share your goal: to get you a good job as quickly as possible.

We are excited to offer this service to our customers and urge you to take advantage of it as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact your Career Advisor at the Worker Career Center.

Sincerely,

Craig Walker
Assistant Executive Director
